Any sources which will never run out of energy will be categorised as inexhaustible energy sources. We have quite a few of these inexhaustible sources depending on the location of harnessing. Anything close to sea coast will have plenty of wind energy and tidal energy which are again considered to be inexhaustible while harnessing sunlight is better at desert and semi desert areas where the light energy from Sun could be harnessed throughout the year.
Energy sources which are sustainable and could be maintained throughout without any depletion are considered as inexhaustible in nature. The energy sources are getting depleted hence the mankind needs inexhaustible sources even more than before. The inexhaustible sources are something which on the long run are going to provide us cheap energy and in abundance. Sources like sunlight and wind are never in short and the only major hurdle to these sustainable energy sources is their initial installation cost and space.
The installation cost is very high and requires lot of expertise which usually becomes a bane in introducing these alternative non-polluting energy units at mass scale. The lack of knowledge and expertise in this field has left many not utilising a very good alternative source for their energy needs. The wind energy harnessing requires a huge area for setting up the unit and its back up but as far harnessing sunlight is concerned with the help of photo voltaic cells could be achieved on terrace and does not require any huge space or back up installation as well.
Inexhaustible energy sources mainly concerns the form of sustainable energy, abundantly available and commercially viable.Most of these are based on technologies which harness energy from abundant natural resources like sea waves, wind energy, sunlight, nuclear fission and flowing river water. A few of these are commercially viable and could be set up and final product transported to end users easily while others are kind of stop gap arrangement till a more viable option is available.
The sea waves bring tremendous amount of potential energy and every time the wave’s splashes against the beach one could see the enormous amount of energy it transfers to the sea shore and this is what led to the inventing precise instruments which allowed these potential energy to be converted into some more useful energy like electricity. The drawback for these forms of energy is that not every country could have these as viable alternate and transmission of the final product is also a big problem as long term plans are not in place.
This form of energy alternate is viable for those locations where a minimum wind flow is available through-out the year. Setting up of these units are costly and hence long term planning is essential for such units as unless commercially viable these units will overrun the initial cost and may become a burden. The energy produced from these units needs to be utilised for areas where the main form of energy is scarce to find or not yet reached. These could be commercially viable if implemented over a long stretch and electricity generated is utilised properly for agriculture and small scale industries sector.
These form of energy modules are abundant and could be set anywhere from plains to mountains and availed throughout the year. Once set up could generate energy with little or no maintenance as initial cost could be break evened within no time and uninterrupted energy supply could be maintained. The only problem with this form is during monsoon and winter period when the minimum amount of sunlight required generating electricity is lost.
These are considered to be the cheapest form of per unit energy production on a humongous scale. Energy produced is distributed far and wide and could be maintained throughout year without a break. It’s an all-weather form of energy production and could become the mainstay of future energy requirements. The main drawbacks for this form of energy production are the dispersal of fissile materials. The residues are not only dangerous for any kind of living form but also makes a dangerous material for any kind of terrorist activity. The proper and safe dispersal of the fissile materials not only hinders the rapid growth of such energy units but also is a big problem as far nuclear material supply is concern.
Flowing River Water
The energy produced from such natural resources is clean, abundant and easily transmitted over a huge distance. The problem with river water is the availability of minimum water level in river basin throughout the year. Most of the rivers are tributary fed and under such circumstances the rivers dry up during summer leading to drop in energy production at hydel power units.
Most of the inexhaustible energy resources are available abundantly but the only problem is their availability throughout a given period. The availability is completely dependent upon weather patterns and geographical terrains. Some regions can sustain with a certain form of natural inexhaustible resource while the other might not even manage to match the minimum required availability.
The future lies in the manner in which these inexhaustible resources are harnessed, trapped and utilised for maximum returns in terms of viable alternative.
